Learning to play backgammon aboard a dahabiyeh on the Nile.
Hi, I’m Hannah. 👋🏼
This isn’t really a blog — more of a scrapbook.
A place to stash stories before I forget them… and maybe help someone else plan a great escape along the way.
I’m not a professional traveler. I’m a Funeral Director by day ⚰️ a Travel Advisor by heart ♥️ and a lifelong learner. ✈️
My adventures lean toward history — the older the better! I’ve stayed in vintage hotels that boast about famous patrons and dined at some nice historic spots too, but… I’ve also eaten just, like, really excellent toast in a train station and slept in a hammock that was only $5/night. 😆🥖
A few chapters so far:
📍 At 14, I begged my parents to let me build houses in Ecuador with strangers. Still one of the most formative summers of my life.
📍 At 18, I toured over half the U.S. states playing baritone with a drum & bugle corps for three summers — sleeping on buses and gym floors, chasing perfection (landing 11th in the world).
📍 At 20, I moved to Costa Rica for a semester, leveled up my Spanish, and came home with a full-blown case of the travel bug.
📍 At 35, I checked off all 7 New Wonders of the World. Goal complete ✅
📍 Longest trip with just a carry-on? 18 days. Could go forever.
These days, I travel with my husband Dantan (who teaches history, loves a good museum, and says yes to every trip) and we share our life in Ohio with Jasper, the world’s most spoiled cockapoo. 🐾
This isn’t a travel guide. There are no listicles. But if you like stories with a little heart ♥️ and a lot of history 📖 and little-to-no ChatGPT nonsense: you're in the right place.
Have a trip you’re dreaming about? I’d love to help you plan it; especially the meaningful, the offbeat, and the once-in-a-lifetime.
Thanks for being here.

P.P.S. After thinking about it for years, this website and also this website inspired me to finally go for it!
