A favored photo.

I’m a huge proponent of Unsplash, it’s a website where photographers—professional and amateur—share their photos to download freely for any use. As much as I love the photo I took just near the entrance of Sainte-Chapelle, it was immensely gratifying when, after uploading to Unsplash, it quickly became one of my most-downloaded photos. ♥️

We aren’t even 100% sure who the original architect of the Sainte-Chapelle de Paris was. We do know the project began in 1240. Is this little guy 784 years old? We don’t know that either. We do know that the stained glass inside is drop-dead gorgeous. 🌈

The themes vary, but a significant portion of the stained glass focuses on biblical stories, recounting episodes from both the Old and New Testaments. Imagine being surrounded by the ethereal purple glow of windows illustrating scenes from the Creation, the life of Christ, and other biblical events. Visited by nearly 1 million people each year, this reverent chapel is a sight to behold. ✨

Sainte-Chapelle is on our list to revisit each time, but we haven’t made it back since our first visit in 2014. Time for another trip to Paris. 💜
