FREE Trip Budget Planner — Google Sheets
I searched the internet for the perfect trip budgeter… and I didn’t find it so I made it. As a true Napster kid, I believe things online are for sharing for free. 😆
Just click on the image, and click “File” -> “Make A Copy” so you can edit for your own adventures!
Change the numbers in the Budget & Actual columns (and the # of people) and the rest auto-calculate. If you need more rows, just “unhide” the rows on the left.
So, how do I afford to travel so much?
Well reading this book REALLY helped ngl. It’s a 10/10 crash course in travel hacking.
✨👉🏼 And also signing up for this free email newsletter. 👈🏼✨
But overall it was budgeting - boring, I know, but it gets results. 💪🏼 We took Financial Peace University (FPU) and that was a big help with learning to save more.

Practical advice? Have friends and relatives Venmo you right at the time of payment instead of later. Helps things from getting awkward. 😬
If you’re budgeting & tracking trip expenses, you’re already my kinda person. 🥹 AND if you previously used Mint (like me, RIP Mint 😭) and haven’t found the perfect replacement yet, I can say Monarch is 100% worth the annual spend. We’ve been using it since 2023 and it’s helped us track expenses. My fave is when we have extra money in the travel budget to carryover from the previous year. 😈
I have a link for 50% off coupon code for Monarch. And - you didn’t hear it from me - but, if you follow the prompts to cancel next year, they might just give you the second year at 50% off …just sayin’. 😉
Like, we stopped using DoorDash and now typically go pick it up when we splurge on takeout. Seeing the number in black-and-white is so psychologically helpful! 💸
So yeah, careful budgeting and a few tricks, but we’ve also learned our share of lessons the hard way, so I try to pass along what I can. ☺️ To me, experiences with people I love is worth so much more than stuff sitting around my house! ♥️
